Wave and Waveless Order Management
Workload Balancing is the process of releasing manageable chunks of containers in the most logical manner based on a number of factors, such as business rules, picking methodologies, shipping requirements, and available automation processes. In order for Workload Balancing to achieve this, our waving system will create these manageable chunks by grouping containers together by Master Wave and Waves based upon a set of configurable rules. This extremely flexible approach allows our system to run in full automatic mode reducing the need for operators to have to manually create waves even though they still can if they need to.
Wave Service
MMCI's Wave Service, powered by our DCX Software Suite, watches for cubed orders and groups them into waves based upon the waving rules or manual selection in the Wave Management Add-On. Rules include parameters, such as wave size, hold time, groupings (i.e. by pick zone, by order type, by shipping requirements, etc.) and required ship date/time.
Wave Management
The Wave Management Add-On allows the user view the current and pending waves, configure rules for how waving occurs, and manually create a wave from any cubed orders in the order pool. The Wave Manager works alongside of Workload Balancing to ensure that orders are released in a control manner as to not overwhelm a particular area of the warehouse or pick zone.
